Time to fill you in

Dear critters,

I've fallen off the face of the earth lately. And for that I am sorry. If any of you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you will have noticed the same absence there as well. After I got my wisdom teeth taken out a couple of weeks ago, my life has gotten a little hectic... Let's start with the beginning.

As most of you know, I work at Charlotte Russe and have worked here for a little over a year now. However, when the summer started I wasn't getting enough hours, so I took on another job. I am now working at the Indiana University Foundation Telefund on top of CR. In the past (before CR), I worked at the Telefund once before for a semester. I knew what I was getting into, what I was capable of, and what the job would entail. At the time, I could totally handle another job.

A week or so after accepting that job, I got an offer from CR for a promotion! Of course I was going to take it, and I was so pumped to be moving up!! I am now a key holder/manager which means I get a few more hours, a little better a pay, and an experience like no other. I am so thankful for this opportunity to move up and learn more about how this corporation works; however, this is a new stress on my shoulders. When I say stress, I do not mean anything bad--but, of course I need training, time to learn, and have a whole set of new tasks to master. This promotion is wonderful, but has added more on my plate.

So, now I am an employee at the Telefund as a caller AND a manger at Charlotte Russe.
But, I don't stop there. I like to keep busy, and I'm not complaining about anything that I have taken on...it's just a lot on my plate and often times blogging gets pushed aside.

On top of CR and TF, I am currently working with a group of my best girl friends on an amazing and exciting project. I don't want to spill too many of the details just yet, but the girls and I working on creating an amazing blog (and more) for fashion, beauty, health, etc!! This is another task that I am so thankful to be a part of; however, it's another thing on my list of things to do.
All these jobs keep me busy, and I love it! I am also working on achieving two IT certificates in web design and media publishing. I am taking two online classes a week for the next month or so to accomplish this! Also, next week I start my online math class at Ivy Tech!
Just a couple more things to fill you in on now...

Today I accepted an interview with UITS IT Consulting. At the end of my spring semester I applied to work with UITS in order to have the opportunity to build resume in the technical world, as well as, get experience and gain knowledge about what I want to do for a future career. I believe the interview went very well, and I feel confident in what might come. If I find out any more details you all will be one of the firsts to know!

And finally, all of this action in my life has warranted a break don't you think, so SkyCzar, his family, and I are headed off to North Carolina to the castle in the sky for a week long adventure of fun, relaxation, and much needed rest. This time away is exactly what I need right now, and hopefully when I get back I can jump back into my normal routines and back into the blogging stage.

I want to thank you all for all of the birthday wishes yesterday! I had a wonderful time!!

The CPM site is live!

Hey critters!

I promised I would tell you when the Culver's Portside Marina site went live… and here I am!

Go check it out NOW

However, I know some of you may be confused. So, I am going to fill you in :)

My dad owns a marina in Culver, Indiana, and over the summer I got the opportunity to work for him as (what I titled myself) the Web Manager. Basically, it started out with me making them Facebook and twitter accounts, and then I was responsible for keeping all of their information up to date on those social media sites. Working on that I realized that their website in general was due for a makeover and some special TLC.

So, one day, I took it into my own hands to contact the person who was hosting our site, discuss the remodeling of it, and begin the work. First (with a special thanks to Pat), I began creating our new site on WordPress. Making this switch from whatever they had before (which was so bad, I don't even know what it was called) to Wordpress made the whole creation process a lot easier. My dad, mom, and I figured out a template that we really liked in order for us to work off of that and make the designing a lot easier, too. Figuring out the general look and feel that I wanted for the site was the simple part. After that I had to transfer all of the images, boat information, documents, and forms onto the new site--and, that's where it got a bit difficult.
Along with the general difficulty of the whole merging process, this was about the time that I needed to head back to Bloomington and start school. Getting caught up in everything happening like all of my school work, other jobs, and social events at IU really set me back in the launching process. I literally didn't touch the site for months and was nervous to begin again--but, I knew it needed to be done.
I set my mind to it, got some more work done over Christmas break, and then here we are today… ALL COMPLETED. It's definitely still a work in progress. The site has some rough edges; however, I am excited to continue working on it by upgrading the images, changing the look of wonky things, and keeping it up to date!

I couldn't have done this without the support from a lot of family, friends, and colleagues. I want to give a big shout out to all of them for being my rock and keeping me focused! With that being said, go check out the site and let me know what you think!-- your feedback can really help me learn and grow, as well as, help CPM thrive and improve.

This is an exciting moment for myself and the marina!

Tuesday Twenty-- Reasons why I love my job at Charlotte Russe

Good evening critters!

Today's Tuesday Twenty is something quick and easy. Considering the fact that I am going to be back home this entire week, the amount of good quality posts may be limited. However, you might want to look forward to some great things coming within the next month!
This weeks #TuesdayTwenty is something that is really easy for me to list and put down, and that is--twenty reasons I love my job at Charlotte Russe!

from our meeting we just had on Sunday

Here's this weeks Tuesday Twenty:

Twenty Reasons why I love my job at Charlotte Russe

  1. the girls I work with are absolutely gorgeous and completely stylish
  2. the amazing discount
  3. I love giving compliments to all the girls trying on clothes
  4. my managers could totally be my BFFs in real life (if that were professionally allowed)
  5. the fun music that's on all the time
  6. the CR atmosphere allows everyone (including myself) to be who we are no matter what
  7. I never get bored at work
  8. all the girls I work with love each other
  9. I get to look at cute clothes all day long
  10. ^^^and then I never have to take the time to shop anywhere else
  11. the deals at the store (whether I was an employee or not) are outstanding
  12. the amazing discount... oh wait, did I already say that
  13. my managers are so flexible and understanding when necessary
  14. I can still have time for school and work
  15. the girls who come to shop are passionate about most of the same things I love--clothes!
  16. I always have a reason to dress up
  17. there are so many different clothing options in this one store
  18. I never feel like I'm working, but I still get a paycheck :)
  19. even if I'm running around crazy busy I still love helping out every girl in the store
  20. I am making an impact on a quickly growing company!

BTW critters-- you all need to stop by a Charlotte Russe on black Friday! I'm not gonna tell you all the deals but trust me, they are pretty awesome.

A Huge Post

Hello my dearest critters!
So, I am a terrible blogger. Hate me if you want, because I hate myself right now, too. It has almost been two weeks since my last blog post... and the sad part is: I promised to daily vlog every day this month. Boy, am I a failure.

Recapping

This post is a little recap on what has been keeping me so busy in life for me not to be posting at all. First a foremost, I have been working hard to get the Culver's Portside Marina website up and running how I would like it to look. I have met with a web designer who is going to be training me on ways to customize the new site that we are creating through Wordpress next Thursday! So, I am super pumped for that and have already went out and purchased a Wordpress for Dummies book. However, not only are we creating a whole new site for the marina, but I am also in charge of keeping up on the twitter and Facebook pages. (Like us on Facebook! Follow us on Twitter!) Don't get me wrong, I am absolutely loving my job! It has been keeping me busy in the best ways possible. My future plans are to hopefully to get a monthly newsletter out to all of the customers for the beginning of August in order to inspire them to visit the site, like and follow us, as well as, allow them to sign up to receive the newsletter again every month through email. I also need to remake a new brochure for the marina because their's is about 5 years old {at least}! I love having a plate full of things to do, I really do!!

Oh and speaking of loving my job at the marina. This web designer and web manager stuff has really got me thinking about turning the corner on a new path of life. I am debating on changing my major to computer science. And when I say debating, I basically mean I am waiting to hear back from an advisor who will help me change my major.
Anyways, I have been getting really into everything web-ish and have left all of my critters out :( I am so sorry for that!

Ideas for the Blog

The more that I have been working with Culver's Portside Marina in creating their new website, the more it has inspired me to make my blog bigger and better. Some day I want to move it over to a wordpress.org account! Maybe I can create something so spectacular and unique there. Also, I try my best not to use my real personal information on the site, but I am considering linking this site to my personal Facebook, twitter, and instagram account in order for all of the following critters to stay tuned with me nearly every day. What are your thoughts on all of this (let me know in the comment section below)??

Please Help Me

I need some help from you all though. I think that the reason I have not been posting a lot is because I feel as though no one is watching, reading, or admiring my blog. I have hundreds of viewers, but nothing to show for it. Whether you are my family, friends, or simple passerbys please don't hesitate to leave comments on my posts! It is a fun way for us to interact and for you to let me know your thoughts about the way my blog looks, the posts I am writing, the things you want me to post about or basically anything. You can also shoot me an email or follow me on twitter and chat it up!

July Daily Blogging Challenge (Jul 3, 2013)

Hey critters!
I have given myself a daily vlogging challenge. For the rest of July I want to strive for a daily vlog every day. I understand that I missed the first two days of July already (since I just decided that I wanted to do this), but I'm still working hard to accomplish the rest. I haven't made up my mind on what my punishment is going to be if I miss a day, so PLEASE leave comments below of what you guys would like to see if I don't complete the challenge.
This vlog is definitely a must see. My day started off fine with a trip to Culver, Indiana, to help my dad with his web things for the marina that he owns. But then Zoey got her self in a lot of trouble...
Check it out.
