Getting my first tattoo

Good morning critters!

A little over a week ago now I got my very first tattoo!! If you follow me on Instagram, twitter, or basically any other social media you should already know this... I have been pumped about this appointment for months.

For my birthday gift, my mom was so nice as to help me pay for this tattoo. We took a trip to a tat place in Valpo! My mom got her tattoo on her calf touched up that she has had for about 4 or 5 years, and I got my very first tattoo.

The picture above is from right after I got it done and was taken with my phone (so please excuse the redness and bad quality of the image).

I plan on getting a lot more tattoos--this one was just a start to my already planned out sleeve. The hummingbird is a beautiful symbol that to me represents my mom. I was so thankful that she got to come along with me on this special day and witness me getting my tattoo for her.

My mom always has been in to birds since before I can remember. She has a bird book that has images and descriptions of all sorts of birds around the world. We used to use the book together to look up all sorts of birds that we saw flying around our house. That is why the hummingbird is so symbolic to me. It is my moms favorite bird and one of mine as well!

To see snippets of the process during my tattoo experience check out the video below!

Our vacation to North Carolina

Hello again critters!

Recently, Sky and I, as well as some other family members, took a much needed vacation to North Carolina. We stayed at this place called the castle in the sky, and boy oh boy was it absolutely stunning.

We spent a lot of time sun bathing and playing outside by the pool. We also took some time to visit a couple attractions around neighboring towns.

I am so thankful for this opportunity that we had to get away from (sometimes) crummy Indiana and visit a new state. I truly needed this vacation, and I am glad we got to come along!

To see more of what we did check out my videos below and scroll through some of the images.

Getting my wisdom teeth out [Weekly Recap 5/12-5/18]

Hey critters!

I don't have much to share from this past week. I got my wisdom teeth out and when that happened I basically fell off the face of the earth. No, I was not in a lot of pain; however, I was milking all of the spoiling I was receiving from my family pretty well, so that turned in to a full-time job for the weekend.

If you want to laugh you really need to watch this video from this week... and stay tuned until the end for a special clip of me all drugged up (honestly, I don't remember any of this)!!!

Sky's Graduation [Vlog 05/09-05/11]

Good evening critters!

Since summer is approaching and school work is now minimal I figured I would try to start up the weekly recaps again. This video was just from one weekend... and sadly, it didn't get published as quickly as I would have liked. But, better late then never, right?

I hope you like it :)

Recording World of Warcraft [3/10-3/16]

Hey critters!

The more I blog the more I learn. Thats what I say all of the time. I am constantly talking about my learning on this blog, but that's what life is all about right!

Don't forget to check out the video at the bottom of this post!

Here's what happened:

Monday- I hope to get used to recording my life better. I let Zoey play in the mud this day, so then I had to give her a bath. When she drys off she gets really crazy and excited, and it's always so funny. I worked, too. After work I played WoW... as the usual lately.

Tuesday- It was beautiful this day! So, classes weren't hell to go to like normal.

Wednesday- After going to all of my classes Sky and I ate dinner at a food court-- so, yummy!! Then when SkyCzar went off for work I surprised him with a clean and reorganized room. I moved everything around and made it so pretty (make sure you watch the video to see the before and after).

Thursday- So, don't yell at me, but I am a terrible student. I skipped all of my classes this day!! Spring break starts on Friday so I was just like "WTF I don't want to go to class."

Friday- Today was the very important day in which I finally figured out how to record everything properly in WoW!!! YAY! I couldn't believe how hard it was. Make sure to comment below and click the like button on my video if you want to see how I actually will be recording everything!

Saturday- I didn't wake up until like 3pm this day, haha! So I just got up and went to work. Sky worked too--from 10pm-3am. We just spent our weekend playing WoW.

Sunday- Sadly, this day wasn't much more fun either. Mostly we just slept all day and then drove back to our hometown. A long drive and a boring day.

Lots of midterms [3/3-3/9]

Good afternoon critters!

Another week of [somewhat] successful vlogging. I am still finding it hard to talk to a camera in public; however, I am working on it, haha.

Check out the video at the bottom of this post!!

Here's what happened:

Monday- This was a rough start to my week. I wound up having to drop a class because my grade wasn't were it should have been and there was no way to get it back up. It was a very stressful situation! But, things got better as the day went on.

Tuesday- I decided that this daily blogging thing was pretty difficult--I still find it hard talking to a camera in front of people (I feel weird). I studied for a midterm a little bit before I headed of to work to close down the store and finish my day.

Wednesday- Classes are kicking my butt! I find it hard to wake up early in the morning and am not doing so hot in that 8am class either :( Studying was stressful!! SkyCzar also finished up Enders game, so we got the chance to finally rent the movie. I surprised him after work with movie theatre popcorn, and we made it a date on our living room couch.

Thursday- MIDTERM!! It didn't go too bad, I felt really confident after the test, so hopefully my grade shows it. I only studied that day, but it was only astronomy 100. After that I had to study for another midterm that I had the next day.

Friday- MIDTERM!! I relieved some of that stress from the week by stopping at the mall. I returned a dress so I had a bit of extra cash. I got some mega awesome gelly shoes like when I was 7. I also got a mood ring just for the hell of it :)

Saturday- Sky and I went out this night! I was such a blast. I always love getting a little dressed up with lots of make-up and some false eyelashes.

Sunday- I made a nice dinner this day after work. I don't cook much so this was kind of a big deal. I made baked potatoes with lots of supreme topping to put on them. Peas are also like my FAVORITE food…sooo yeah!

The first weekly recap & Making my sisters look fabulous [2/24-3/02]

Hey critters!

This is a new thing that I am trying, and I am hoping that I can keep up on this weekly vlogging idea. I really had a blast toting you all around this past week!

Here's what happened:

Monday- I didn't video tape anything because I didn't know that I was going to do this yet :) And the worst part is--I can't remember at all what I did on this day.

Tuesday- Sky and I ran some errands. We went to PetCo and saw some really cool animals... oh, and how could I forget the lizard that we saw! It's glass enclosure had a sign written on it stating, "One of us is missing a tail and is 50% off!" Poor lizard!

Wednesday- We had a slow start to our day. Nothing really happened: class, study, blog, sleep.

Thursday- This was date day!! My grandma got Sky and I a gift card for Valentine's day that we decided to use up at Olive Garden. We like being able to treat ourselves every once in awhile, and a date night was definitely due. After that we saw a free movie at the IMU.

Friday- I didn't vlog anything this day either because I had a midterm the next day. M118 is a terrible math class that everyone struggles with, and I knew that I needed to buckle down and focus.

Saturday- I went home this day to do my sisters hair and make-up for their big spring dance! It was a long trip, but it was worth it because they both turned out gorgeous!

If you want to see the specific portion of my daily vlog about my sisters dance click here

Sunday- And then I drove home. It was snowing so bad when I got to Southern Indiana that I was going about 20 mph the whole way! It made for a very long and boring trip!

New Year's Makeover | Danyzell Style (Part 3: Shop, shop, shop!)

Welcome critters, to my third installment of a "New Year's Makeover | Danyzell Style."

Did you miss the others in my "New Year's Makeover" series?

Ready to move on? Check out the rest  Coming Soon!

______________________________________________________________________

Cleaning out your closet in part one may have left you with less clothes than what you'd like to have. And now that you've completed part two and know what kind of items are going to work best for your body and your desired style we can begin to SHOP! This is the part we've all wanted to do the whole time anyways, am I right?

Thankfully, we have taken the time as part of step two in order to decide what we need using a shopping list. Rushing out to the stores blindly can not only create chaos and an overwhelming feeling, but you're going to want to buy anything and everything even if it doesn't fit properly into your wardrobe.

[Step 1- Prioritize your list]
     > Go over it one more time. As part of step 2 we already took the time to make a list based on what your chosen style is, what you already have, and the basics that you still need; but, going over that same list again a couple of days later will ensure that these are still the items you need and desire.
     > Put the important stuff at the top. When you prioritize your shopping list you need to think about which items will have to most impact in your closet right now. We all may have those desired items that we love but don't really need, so put those on the back burner for now and focus on the articles of clothing that will just MAKE your closet complete. Prioritizing you shopping list can really help alleviate any stress you have. Plus, if you're on a budget you can visually see the first things you need to purchase and then work your way down as money allows.

       Online vs. In Store
Personally, I love to shop in the store. If you have a weird body type like me then online shopping is often times just too unpredictable.
However, some of the best deals can be scored online. If you know what size you are and can have faith in the company that you are purchasing from, then I would say go for it!
Whatever works best for your lifestyle it ideal because shopping is shopping, right?

[Step 2- Buying the clothes]
After you've arrived at the store (or in the case of online shopping, the clothes have arrived at your house), we need to make the decision on whether or not to buy the clothes (or return them).
    > Analyze the fit, the feel, and the look. Moving around can give you the opportunity to think about how this item is fitting and feeling on you. The dressing rooms are just meant for you to change and stare at yourself, but take a step out of them and walk up and down the fitting room hall. In pants or a shirt, giving yourself the opportunity to move around gives you a different feeling of the item. Also, make sure that the item looks good when you're doing these things... looks is what it's about anyways!
     > If you use the 'but' word, it's not worth it. "I like this shirt, but..." I want it longer, I wish it was blue, I need long sleeves. These are all kinds of problems we encounter yet time and time again I find myself still buying the clothes. I made a rule for myself that anything with a 'but' wasn't worth it, and it truly helped me decided what was really necessary and what wasn't. I'd suggest you do the same!
     > Is this practical? This should be an easy question to answer that can weed out a lot of unnecessary items. As in part one, decided what is truly going to work in your life.

Don't get frustrated if the first time you go shopping you don't find everything you wanted. It may take a couple of small shopping trips for you to decide what is working for you.

Want to see what I picked up on my shopping trips? Check out the video below to cheek out my haul.

I got a new camera!! [VLOG 2/21-2/23]

Hey critters!

The title of this blog post is true... I DID get a new camera. It is a very nice Nikon Coolpix S9500, and so far I am really liking the quality. SkyCzar got it for me for Christmas--I don't know why it's taken me so long to actually publish a video for you all to see.

The vlog was taken over this past weekend that I went home. I am also going home this coming weekend that is why most of my time in this video is spent with Sky's family and most of my time this coming weekend will be spent with my own.

Before I get into the beef of what happened over my wonderful 3 day break, I want to mention that I am trying something new. One of my fellow blogging youtubers who I follow very religiously has tried this new thing where she blogs her daily life for an entire week and then recaps the previously week on a certain scheduled date every week following. I love this idea; however, I do not know if I can work that sort of thing into my schedule. The act of taking videos will not be hard, but the editing and posting can sometimes be a tedious issue. So, I am not making any promises, but this is what I want to try to do. Do you understand?

Anyways-- let's get into the weekend post now :)

This past weekend I drove home with Sky and Zoey to go visit our families back at our hometown. I called off work and he had that week off so it was perfect. We both hadn't seen our families since Christmas break so it was due time.

On Friday, Bloomington was gorgeous!! As we were taking off we rolled the passenger window down to let in some fresh air, as well as give Zoey the chance to be all cute and stick her head out. Little did we know that that window motor had had enough. Vrooooooom, and now it was stuck. Driving out of Bloomington wasn't bad because it was pretty warm, but the further we traveled north, the colder it got. Soon, Sky and I were blasting the heat in a desperate effort to make Zoey stop shivering. We were using sweatshirts and tshirts from our laundry basket as blankets!! Finally, we made it home. (Sky's dad and brother-in-law set to work later that weekend to work on the motor and fix the window.)
At the house we talked and visited family; however, I didn't have to opportunity to enjoy much of it because I had gotten a migraine. I usually get them pretty badly, and this one was no break. Thank the lord for medicine!!

On Saturday I spent the majority of the day with Sky's sisters and his mom. We took a shopping trip to South Bend, and just made a day out of it. It was a blast! We sang loudly, waved at truck drivers, and bought what we wanted. It was great to get out of the house again and spend some much needed girl time with these beauties!

Sunday was the sad day that we had to head home. There was some drama with the vehicles that we were planning on taking, but as expected, we got it all figured out. Driving three hours back to school is never fun, but at least we didn't have to freeze with the window down this time.

Sister TAG

Good evening critters!

Not much explaining here... Just me and my sisters acting like nuts doing the sister tag.

I can't really explain our relationship, and that's why I wanted you all to see it or yourselves. We are silly, crazy, mean, and fun all at the same time. We fight but we love each other--I wouldn't have it any other way!

How to curl your hair with a straightener

Hey critters!

Some of you may already know... but, I absolutely love doing hair. Whenever I am home my sisters beg me everyday to do something super cute that they wouldn't normally do on their own. Lately, my sister Sara has been asking me to curl her hair, and using the straightener is the easiest way in my opinion.
Whether you want to do a little curl on the tips or make some beachy waves, this method can help you accomplish just that!

[Step 1- Brush your hair]
     > Just do it. OMG but be gentle now ladies. I know that there are a lot of girls that just rip that brush through their hair-- you don't even understand how much damage that is causing (it makes me scream).

[Step 2- Turn on the straightener]
     > You can use a low setting. I think that many of you think that in order to get the best curl, your straightener needs to be blazing! I put mine on the lowest setting and go with it; it works fine for me.

[Step 3- Curl them hairs]
     > Use a strand about as big as half of your thumb. Any bigger than that and you might have to go over it a couple times to get a good curl.
     > Put the straightener on the desired spot. Depending on whether you want the full strand curled or just the ends, that is wear you first clamp the straightener.
     > Twist and pull. Just twist the straightener about 45-90 degrees and pull down your hair slowly. As you reach the ends you can twist more... but then that's it!

It's that simple guys!

If my instructions were a little too confusing then check out the video I made! I hope it helps.

New Year's Makeover | Danyzell Style (Part 1: Going through your closet)

Welcome critters, to my first installment of a "New Year's Makeover | Danyzell Style."

With a new year comes new beginnings, a fresh start, and a chance to get out with the old and jump in to the new. I love the idea of reflecting on the past and making positive changes for my future. This year I am determined to emphasize the new me! And the first step in that long journey is a revamped, refreshed, and rejuvenated makeover.

For the next couple of weeks, I am going to be walking with you as we go through our closets, clean and organize our style, shop until we drop, and flaunt our personality with clothes.

Ready to move on? Check out the rest

Coming Soon!

______________________________________________________________________

Now, before we even begin to think about the new things we want to buy, we need to decide what we have that works and what must go. Today we are discussing Part 1: Going through our closet so we can start fresh and get the organization in motion!

[Step 1- Clean up]
Pick up your space. Within the next couple of steps we are going to completely tear apart the closet. Could you imagine trying to get everything straight and organized in an already disastrous room? Just start the organization process now and do a quick pick up.
     > Put yourself together. Do your hair, make-up, and throw on some glam (yet neutral) clothes. Simple straight hair and an everyday eye look with black leggings and a white tee is what I went for. The clothes you try on will look better when you feel better about the way the person looks inside them. And don't forget to keep it neutral because you don't want your other pieces overpowering the items you are trying to eliminate.

[Step 2- Make piles]
     > Try it all on. My suggestion is go through one type of item at a time. Put on all your shirts, then your pants, and so on. This makes sure you get rid of any duplicates, and helps keep me focused on the task at hand,
     > Categorize your clothes. Start by making piles as you try anything on. One pile called 'Donate,' another for some of your 'Maybes,' and a pile for the 'Keeps.' Make sure that all clothes that do not fit or are ruined go straight into the donation/go pile--I don't care how much you used to love it!

[Step 3- Reevaluate your piles]
     > Are you getting rid of too much? Do you have lots in your keep pile? This can be one of the hardest parts, but make sure you are being reasonable with yourself. Go through those piles one more time, decide where the maybes need to go, and finish up this first brutal task.
     > What if you still can't decide on those 'Maybe' items? Sometimes it's just too much to make a decision in one day, so make sure you hang those leftover maybes in a separate spot in your closet using my hanger method. Then come back in two weeks and look over those items again.
Questions to help you along the way
          1) Does it fit me? I know we all have those couple of items that we use for inspiration towards our new year's weight loss goals. But we can't keep all of those old clothes. Pick a couple, and 2 sizes must be the limit critters!
          2) Would I re-buy it? You need to decide if this is really something you love. It helps to imagine if it was in the store, would you buy it again?
          3) Is it practical? I may love a certain item, but if I never have a reason to wear that completely sequenced gold dress then I shouldn't keep it--it's that simple.

[Step 4- Put it all away]
     > Keep it organized. Honestly, it doesn’t matter how you decide to put your clothes away in your closet and drawers, just make sure you have some method. A closet that just gets it’s clothes thrown into it is never going to be clean and organized—so, have a method.

Now don't fret about it too much; if you can't accomplish this step in one day then take a break. Sometimes we get so overwhelmed in our projects that we loose focus of the final goal. Take some time to figure out what you really want and tackle the piles another day if that's what you need.
Also, feel free to check out my video below to watch my struggle as I clean out my closet and organize the clothes.

You're done with step one! Do you feel accomplished and satisfied with the work you just did? Comment below to tell me about or show us all of your hard work... what's in your keep pile and what did you decide to donate?

Christmas Tree Hunting (11-30-13) Vlog

Good morning critters!

This past weekend I went out with SkyCzar's family to pick out the most perfect Christmas tree to be showcased at their place. It was such a blast because I always enjoy every moment that I spend with his family. His sister SaraBelle encouraged me to vlog about this moment and take lots of pictures to share with you guys... so, I did :)
Before you watch the video though, I think that it is important to note the things that we were looking for in our perfect tree:
  1. Size-- well, first price. This is something to consider because the bigger the tree the more it costs; therefore, we chose to go with a tree that would stand about 6 feet tall.
  2. Shape-- this is one of the most important criteria. We didn't want a tree that was too fat at the top or too skinny at the bottom. Finding a tree that had the standard Christmas tree shape was crucial for us.
  3. Fullness-- having a couple holes in the tree's figure isn't a big issue if they are all on one side and can be hidden by the wall in your house; however, we wanted to make sure that the tree was a fluffy and full as possible!
  4. Texture-- there are all sorts of pine trees out there for one to pick from! I mean like for real, there are so many different styles. This year we chose to stick with a more original tree that represents what most people picture when they think of a Christmas tree.
Along with the tree shopping we got to taste some super delicious apple cider, puffy popcorn, and take pictures with Santa! The place that we go to every year is really nice and family friendly (of course), so if you have any questions feel free to comment or shoot me an email.
I think that the video compilation of my images and footage turned out really great! Please watch the video that I have below and enjoy!

By the way, did you like my new Christmas themed music? I plan on using that in all of my videos for December!

What's in my school bag?

Hey critters!

So, this past week or so I have been rummaging through my bag not being able to find anything. I think that every bag gets to that point where it just starts collecting everything. Well, my school bag needed a good cleaning out, and I decided to share that process with all of you! Please watch the video that I have embed below to see all of the things that I keep in my bag for school. ENJOY

OH! and don't forget to watch until the very end to see some funny bloopers :D

I would love to see what you guys keep in your bags! I want to TAG my friend Kaiti to do this video (actually, any what's in my bag video would be fine, Kaiti).
Also, everyone can feel free to ask me any questions in the comment section below!

Zoey's 1st Birthday (11-14-13)

Hey critters!

November 14, 2013 was the first birthday of my little jack russell terrier puppy, Zoey! It was such a blast.
For Sky and I, the day started with classes, but all day we were thinking about our little baby back home. After classes we praised Zoey like mad, and loved on her for a long time! Finally, it was PetCo time! Since the store isn't far from our house we got Zoey on her leash and started walking. Zoey loved the walk and rolled in the leaves the whole way there.
While at PetCo, Zoey helped us pick out some brand new toys for her. We got three new bright orange tennis balls along with a ball slinger-thingy, a blue frisbee [fun fact], and a clicker and treat bag for training. I tried to get SkyCzar to purchase a Christmas dress for my little girl, but he didn't like that idea--maybe I can do some more convincing later, what do you think?
After the PetCo adventure, we walked home and prepared ourselves a nice dinner of chicken and green beans. However, it wouldn't be the perfect puppy birthday if we didn't give her some, too! So, Zoey got her own baby plate with a small chunk of chicken and a tiny pile of green beans. She was in heaven!
And that was about it for our birthday celebration. Zoey had a blast and so did Sky and I. Feel free to leave Zoey some birthday love in the comment section below, and I will definitely relay the message! And don't forget to watch the video for even more details and fun footage of Zoey's 1st birthday!

Surprising my family (Vlog 11-09-13)

Good afternoon critters!

I understand that this is a little late at getting out, but that's okay :) bear with me as I try to catch up and do all of my homework before the upcoming Thanksgiving break!
Anyways, I went home this past weekend, and I did not tell anyone in my family. I wound up getting back at like 2am on Friday, so I decided just to stay at Sky's and surprise my family on Saturday!
It was great! This video is just from all of the fun things that happened while I was back home on Saturday. We played with the dogs, went shopping (stay tuned for a haul video), and sang our hearts out to the game Sing Star!
Oh, and I also posted some pictures below for you all to check out that I took over the entire fun and eventful weekend! Enjoy
